Our foil-faced ceramic blanket insulation is used to help the flue warm up faster, and stay warm longer. This works to insure a steady draft. In addition, it will help to reduce deposit buildup in the flue.
While chimney relining systems may in some cases be installed without the use of insulation, it is highly recommended to use some form of approved liner insulation, either a blanket or Thermix lightweight masonry insulation.
A 1/4" thick foil-faced insulation blanket is rated to 1" clearance to combustibles. If the liner is double-wrapped with 1/4" thick foil-faced insulation blanket, or a 1/2" thick foil-faced insulation blanket, it is rated as zero clearance to combustibles.
